The best beach tips you should know for a great day at the beach

1. Protect your body

Because of the heat that comes with cooling off at the beach in summer, it’s important to protect your body.

It would be a shame to get sunburn or skin problems from enjoying the perfect weather.

So, how to protect your skin while enjoying the beach?

apply sunscreen

When the sun burns, it really burns, which is why you should pack sunscreen before heading to the beach – unless you don’t mind getting a sunburn at the end of the day – it’s not pleasant.

It always makes me sad when I see some of my friends burn like crazy with itchy skin at the end of a day at the beach.

It is actually recommended (by dermatologists) to use sunscreen with SPF 30+ for maximum protection

and put on sunglasses

Another very important form of protection is to protect the eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses.

To fully protect your eyes, choose polarized glasses that completely block dangerous UV rays.

In addition to protecting your eyes, sunglasses will keep you looking cool while enjoying the beach.

wearing a beach hat

Unfortunately, not all of us can carry a beach umbrella (and you should if you can), but that won’t stop the sun from working its magic.

While the whole point of going to the beach is to enjoy the sun, sometimes it can get unbearable and you need to take refuge.

A beach hat may not block out all the sun, but it will keep your head and neck from burning out.

Free Balm / Balm

What most people usually forget is taking care of their lips, but it’s important because the sun dries them out anyway, especially if you have dry skin.

So, to keep them moisturized, bring lip balm with you to the beach.

2. Protect your beach gear

In addition to protecting your body and skin, you should also protect the beach items you bring.

This can be a little tricky, especially if you’re going to the beach alone, but the items below should help you.

waterproof phone jacket

How painful it would be to accidentally drop your phone into the water!

To protect your phone, make sure you bring a waterproof phone jacket.

With it, you don’t have to worry about dropping your phone in the water while taking those amazing beach photos.

waterproof dry bag

Do you want to participate in all these cool water activities but don’t know where to store your stuff because you can’t leave them unattended for safety reasons?

A waterproof dry bag will help you do just that. All you have to do is put all your beach stuff inside and kayak with it on your back without worrying about your stuff getting wet even if they fall into the water.

3. Stay hydrated at all times

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Summer and hot days drain every drop of water from our bodies, and staying hydrated are crucial when you’re relaxing on the beach.

The best way to make sure you stay hydrated is to always have bottled water with you.

I prefer a collapsible water bottle that I can always refill when it dries up, rather than constantly buying single-use plastic water bottles that are actually bad for the environment and water bodies.

4. Get to the beach early

On all occasions I go to the beach, I make sure to get there early.

Arriving early will help you enjoy the tranquility of the beach before the crowds show up, and you’ll also be able to choose the best spot, especially on those very crowded beaches.

5. Bring an extra set of clothes

I personally hate walking around in wet clothes after a swim, it’s honestly not the most comfortable thing to do.

It’s also not cool to wear a wet bikini underneath your clothing, creating a wet patch on your body. Bring an extra bikini for this.

If for some reason your clothes get wet, you can change into the extra suit you brought.

6. Leave no trace

After a long, beautiful day at the beach, make sure you don’t leave any litter behind.

If you used some wipes or had a few drinks in a disposal can, please dispose of them in an appropriate place to protect the environment and respect others.

Don’t be one of those people who leave trash on the beach to destroy our oceans, lakes and seas as I can guarantee it will be washed away by water bodies.

It’s actually a huge challenge in the world right now, because there’s tons of plastic in the oceans, and the damage is done by us — at least by people who don’t pick themselves up when they go to the beach.

8. Pack all the beach essentials

To have the perfect beach vacation, you need to have all the beach essentials.

It would be a shame to get there and realize that you have nothing to dry yourself or that you left an important beach accessory behind.

So, to make sure you don’t leave anything behind, you can create your own beach packing list that you can follow when packing.

But, before you go, here are some basic items to bring to the beach.

  • BEACH BLANKET: Because it’s large and sand-resistant, it will keep you comfortable while sunbathing and enjoying the cool breeze from the sea/ocean.
  • Microfiber Travel Towel:  After a dip in the ocean, you need to dry yourself off.
  • Swimwear:  What’s a beach day without body-banging beachwear?
  • Cooler: A cold drink is the best thing you’ll ever eat on a hot, sunny day.
  • Beach Chairs: If just lounging on a beach mat is not your thing, then bring a beach chair for ultimate comfort on the beach.

9. Bring entertainment

The beach itself is a form of entertainment, but after 3-4 hours of lying on the sand and enjoying the fresh breeze, you might start to get bored and you need something else to entertain yourself.

You can bring your own Bluetooth speakers to play some cool tunes (make sure to load some on your phone before you head out) or pack a good book to read while relaxing on the beach.

If you’re taking kids on a family vacation to the beach, don’t forget to bring them beach toys

10. Be aware of beach signs and what they mean

Most beaches have colored flags showing the current state of the ocean.

It is important to know what each color means to ensure you are always safe, especially if you have young children.

Here are the colors you’re likely to find on the beach and what they represent

  • Green Flag: Safe – swimmers can enjoy the ocean without worries
  • Yellow Flag: Moderate Danger – Moderate surf and/or currents are present. Non-professional swimmers are discouraged from swimming in the sea
  • Red Flags: High Hazard – Severe conditions such as strong waves and/or currents: All swimmers are discouraged from entering the water.
  • Purple Flag: Presence of Marine Pests – You may encounter things like jellyfish, sea snakes and other marine pests that make the water unsafe to swim in.

That’s it, beach lovers! These are the top tips for the perfect beach vacation. I hope they help you spend some quality time in the sun with the cool breeze.
